Edge Lock-in: SO.MUCH.FUN!

Edge held their annual lock-in on September 19 with approximately 50 students attending.  The weather was beautiful and we had a great time!  The evening started with Mass at St. Aloysius followed by a hay rack rid20150920_025158376_iOSe and a great supper prepared by the awesome Core Team!  As it grew dark, we enjoyed action-packed (and slightly messy) games.

The talk was on making time for God; being intentional and purposeful in setting aside time for Mass, prayer, and service, in order to grow in our relationship with Christ.  He longs to be in relationship with each of us, his precious children.

One of the favorite activities each year is the Midnight Rosary in the beautiful rosary garden followed by time before the blessed sacrament in a spirit of Adoration, inside St. Aloysius’ beautiful church.  What an awesome group of young people! Not to mention all the adults who pulled this together :)

We were blessed (again) with a great time at the lock-in.  Looking forward to more great things to come!

Parent Night Success

Wednesday night was Parent Night for St. Mary’s Confirmation Prep class. Each student brought at least one parent, and we talked about program objectives and requirements. Together parents and students watched video sessions which are part of the “Altaration” series, about the Mass. After each video there were questions for parent and child to discuss about what they saw and heard on video. Fr. Steve visited briefly to welcome participants to the program and encourage the parents to make a commitment to attend Mass on a regular basis.

Thank you to the parents who came. I look forward to a great year with your children this year.

Seats are now available on the Jr High Mystery trip for 6th graders.  There’s a link to printable registration forms in a blog below.  I need to order t shirts by Monday, so if you would like to register your student please email me your child’s name and t shirt size and then get the forms to me early next week.  Please call me if you have any questions.

Registration deadline is tomorrow (9/25). I have to have names and tshirt sizes, so please email or drop off your registration forms. Parents, if you would like more information about the trip before registering your son/daughter, give me a call, and I will be happy to fill you in. This is for 7th & 8th graders of the Archdiocese of Omaha.

YDisciple Info for Parents

YDisciple has made it possible for anyone in the parish to access videos and other resources that were previously only available to group leaders.  Parents, this is a great opportunity for you to review the same great teachings your son/daughter is seeing during group sessions.

Here are the steps for setting up a free online account to access the YDisciple materials:

1)  Go to www.formed.org

2)  Scroll down to the bottom of the page and look for a space to enter our parish code.  It is right above the large yellowish rectangle button that says “SUBMIT CODE”

3)  Enter the code:  fb7ed   (please note that it is case sensitive)

4)  Follow the prompts for registration to the website

5)  Note that our YDisciple studies are all there, as well as many other AWESOME formation tools for adults to strengthen and deepen one’s faith and understanding.  These tools are all available to you until January 1.  At that point we will decide to continue full subscription, or just cut back to the YDisciple portion.  So please feel free to explore and utilize them….we look forward to growing with your son/daughter and you!

I would love to take a group to camp again this summer.  There are some weeks for middle schoolers (Edge, 6th – 8th graders) and different weeks for high school (Life Teen, 9th – 12th and newly graduated). Anybody interested?  I will have dates as soon as they are posted online and they sell out quickly, so be thinking about it and let’s be ready to sign up! $100 deposit required at registration.
