Please return checks and order form to St. Mary’s by Sept 1.
The Archdiocese of Omaha requires that all adults, both paid and volunteer, who work with children under the age of 18, must be Safe Environment certified. To complete certification, the adult sets up an online account with Catholic Mutual and on this site, completes the information for a background check, reviews policies and guidelines, and registers for a live training class. After completing the live class, the adult is issued a certification which is valid for five years. At the end of the five year period, the certification can be renewed online.
St. Mary’s is hosting a Safe Environment Certification Training on Sunday, September 6, 2015, at 1:00pm in the GACC Cafeteria. (Additional class dates and locations are posted here.) Pre-registration is required for any Safe Environment Training class.
For more information about Safe Environment policies, trainings, recertifications, etc, contact Lisa Hunke.
I am re-posting the EMHC/Lector Training and Mandation information for those who haven’t yet registered. All students in grades 11-12 are encouraged to be trained to serve the parish in these roles. (Students, if you turned in a form last school year, those forms are missing in action, so I’m asking you nicely :) to please complete another form and turn it in to Fr Steve @ the rectory ASAP. (My office is now located in the convent — you can turn in forms to me too, if that’s more convenient.)
Each trainee must attend one training session and one mandation. The West Point training is scheduled for Sunday, Aug 30 at St Marys from 1:30 – 4:30. Other training dates are listed on the general information sheet below. The rural mandation is scheduled for Sept 2 @ St. Mary’s in NORFOLK, at 7:00 pm.
Each participant is asked to pre-register so that the appropriate materials will be available to everyone who attends.
So here are links to the printable information and forms.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Edge is hosting a pool party and picnic in the park for incoming 6th – 8th graders and 9th graders who were in Edge last year. Bring the whole family! Mark your calendars — Thursday, August 6, 2015 from 5:00 – 8:00pm @ the West Point Pool, Neligh Park. We will swim from 5:00 – 6:00 and then eat from 6:00 – 8:00.
Edge will provide the burgers, plates and utensils for the meal. Core Team is asked to bring desserts. Families are asked to bring salads or veggies to share and enough drinks for your own family. No cost for this event.
Join us for fun and fellowship! We are hoping that our new parents and parents considering involving their children in Edge will come to ask questions and learn more about this ministry.
Registration forms will be available to register students for Edge 2015-16.
Please RSVP by Aug 2 to email@example.com — provide your name and # attending.
Contact Lisa Hunke for more information.
I just got back from Georgia last night, after a week at Life Teen’s summer camp at Hidden Lake. Of all the youth ministry events I’ve ever been too, this was, by far, the best. There were lots of fun (and messy!) activities to keep us busy throughout the week, and the time we spent growing closer to Christ was phenomenal! We enjoyed getting to know each other better as a parish group and we also made new Life Teen friends from all over the country; actually, from all over the world!
I am so grateful to our sponsors for saying “YES!” when prompted by God to donate to a camp fund. Without your support, there’s no way we would have been able to attend. Our hearts are forever changed, praise be to God.
Thank you to the chaperones — your presence added so much to the week, and I’m grateful for the sacrifices you made to be there with us.
Thank you to each of the students for being your AWESOME selves and for going with me. I applaud you for your behavior, your compliance with camp rules, your hospitality to other campers. and especially your openness to the Lord. Spending this time with you was such a joy!
Now, parents, students and friends, let’s pray that God will make this opportunity a reality again next year. Anyone interested in donating, or attending camp next year, let me know ASAP and we can begin the planning!
Peace be with you all.
